POS Fashion Retailing System is designed for the
fashion retail shop's staff to handle daily transactions.
The system uses a handheld PC with the touch-screen
function on a Windows CE platform. The programming
languages used are Visual Basic, SQL and XML.
The functions of the system include the processing
of sales and return transactions, checking inventory,
and changing the details of the inventory such
as the price, quantity and discount rate. The
system generates daily summaries including:
|
|
- The number of the sales
transactions processed.
- The number for each payment
methods.
- The number of returned
items.
- The ten most popular items.
- The information of the items
whose inventory is lower than 10 that need to be
reordered.
The data stored in the ADOCE, such as the detail
of the items, are converted into text file and uploaded
to the web server. The data would then be converted
into XML format file for displaying so that the user
can view it through the browser.
This system enables the company to lower its cost
since it is running a handheld PC instead of a more
expensive desktop. The handheld PC, using Windows
CE, has the touch-screen function and the instant
on/off battery life, enabling the user to handle it
easily. Its rugged ROM-based operating system has
better virus protection. The portability is high as
the size of the handheld PC is relatively small and
the weight relatively light. The automation improves
the efficiency of transaction processing and inventory
control.
